Around 21,600 people were evacuated from Kabul in a 24-hr period till 07G Tuesday, according to a White House official.
NATO said that at least 20 people have died at the Kabul airport since August 15.
“In one of the biggest such airlifts ever, the United States and its allies have evacuated more than 70,000 people, including their citizens, NATO personnel and Afghans at risk, since Aug. 14, the day before the Taliban swept into the capital Kabul to bring to an end a 20-year foreign military presence”, Reuters said.
The Taliban have appointed a new finance minister, an intelligence chief, and an acting interior minister in Afghanistan, the Pajhwok news agency reported on Tuesday.
