Israel’s Knesset is expected to discuss the new package of judiciary bills, and hold the first phase of voting on the package of new amendments to the judicial laws (phases continue through April.)

Anti-government rallies in front of the Knesset against the controversial Judicial Reform Bill, which would give lawmakers new powers over the judiciary by removing the court’s ability to veto.

There are calls by activists for a general strike (but unions would need to agree.)

On Sunday, US President Biden released a statement to the New York Times, saying Israel was built on “strong institutions, on checks and balances, on an independent judiciary”.
