While firefighters battle three major forest fires, tourists are still heading to the capital, trying to stay cool without missing out on Athen’s main attractions.

Hundreds of tourists and residents were evacuated on Saturday from a popular resort on the island of Lesbos as a wildfire
destroyed homes in the beachside village of Vatera.

California: Firefighters significantly slowed the spread of a destructive wildfire near Yosemite National Park which tore through more than 67 square kilometers of forest land from Friday-Monday.

Thousands of residents were forced to flee remote mountain communities as more than 2,500 firefighters battled the Oak Fire, along with aircraft and bulldozers – all facing tough conditions that include steep terrain, sweltering temperatures and low humidity.
