Sri Lanka’s predominantly Tamil minority communities in the north already faced the civil war a decade ago have recently seen some of the worst effects of the country’s economic crisis and skyrocketing global prices.

Many in the north- living in some of the poorest regions in the country – say they are struggling to survive and say the government’s claims of better times ahead sound like empty promises.
