Saudi Arabia and the U.S. said late Tuesday they were seeking to verify reported violations of a ceasefire in Sudan and that preparations were underway for humanitarian relief operations.

In a joint statement, they said Sudan’s warring factions failed to abide by a commitment not to seek military advantage in the days before the ceasefire came into force on Monday.
