President Dina Boluarte addressed the nation Sunday, urging politicians to reconsider a rejected proposal to move elections.
She wants to change the voting from April 2024 to December of this year.
For weeks, people have been protesting, demanding early elections – and Boluarte’s resignation.
Demonstrations began in December after former President Pedro Castillo was impeached and arrested.
At least 50 people have been killed in the unrest.
