The seventh iteration of the ‘Our Ocean Conference’ will be held in Palau on Wednesday & Thursday.

The conference is seen as a milestone event for leaders to ensure that global commitments to protecting the ocean are backed by the financing needed to achieve them while the ocean is suffering the effects of climate change, unsustainable development, pollution and overfishing.

The six areas of action being targeted are:
– 1. Advancing Marine Protected Areas for Communities, Ecosystems, and Climate / 2. Tackling Marine Pollution /3.
Confronting the Ocean-Climate Crisis / 4. Creating Sustainable Blue Economies / 5. Advancing Sustainable
Small-Scale Fisheries and Aquaculture / 6. Achieving a Safe, Just and Secure Ocean.
