The UN has reported on the violence in Myanmar, where the military has been involved in methodical and extensive human rights violations and abuses – some of which might be classified as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The report revealed that Myanmar’s military and security forces have made known a grave disrespect for human life.

The report which covered the period from February 1st 2021 up to  March 15th 2022 detailed that numerous citizens “have been shot in the head, burned to death, arbitrarily arrested, tortured or used as human shields. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet called on the international community to do all it can to resolve the crisis and hold perpetrators of gross violations of international human rights law  accountable.” https://news.un.org/en/story/2022/03/1113972

It is worth noting that the report was released for the 49th  regular session of the UN Human Rights Council.
