Various events were held on Tuesday ahead of May 11 which marks one year since the murder of veteran Al Jazeera
journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
Since Shireen Abu Akleh was murdered, the Israeli narrative of what happened changed several times, last claiming in September 2022 that it was “highly probable” she was “mistakenly” shot by an Israeli soldier, despite all evidence suggesting the veteran American-Palestinian journalist was deliberately targeted and those who attempted to help her were shot at as well.
A year on, no one has been held to account.
The U.S. Justice Department in November 2022 said the FBI was opening a probe.
Al Jazeera and Shireen’s family have submitted Shireen’s case to the ICC and are still seeking justice for her murder.
