Police in Israel have authorised ultranationalist Jewish activists to march through the Old City to the Western Wall in Occupied East Jerusalem today, Thursday to demand an end to control of the Al Aqsa Mosque complex by the Waqf, the Islamic endowment which administers the holy site.

The permit to march is limited to 200 participants and it is expected to enter Damascus Gate and pass through the Muslim quarter in the same route that ultranationalists took last May on ‘Jerusalem Day’ and in previous years.

The police have said that the march will not be allowed to get in or near the gates of the Al Aqsa complex.

The demonstration will coincide with the first night of Hanukkah.
