UN Secretary‑General António Guterres condemned Israel’s decision to resume land registration in Area C of the occupied West Bank, a first since 1967, warning it could dispossess Palestinians and expand Israeli control, (UN Spokesman Stéphane Dujarric, 16 Feb 2026).

The cabinet decision, first approved in May 2025, risks converting lands without documented title into state property and aggravates settlement‑related regimes deemed by the UN to lack legal validity.

The move undermines Palestinians’ property and self‑determination rights and erodes the two‑State prospect; the UN called for reversal and protection of civilians under occupation.

(UN statement, 16 Feb 2026).
