The Israeli military announced on Monday that it has carried out more than 50 strikes across Lebanon over the past month, citing repeated ceasefire violations and alleged threats posed to the State of Israel. The strikes are part of an ongoing campaign by Israel to curb what it describes as hostile activities along its northern frontier.

Among the most notable incidents was a strike on Al-Hadath, a southern suburb of Beirut, marking the third such attack on the area since the ceasefire agreement of November 2024. The Israeli Defence Forces claimed the latest strike targeted a weapons depot and followed a public warning issued by an army spokesperson.

Lebanon’s president sharply condemned the attack, accusing Israel of deliberately destabilising regional security. In a statement, he warned that continued incursions could escalate tensions and draw Lebanon deeper into conflict.

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu defended the military’s actions, insisting that Israel would not permit Hezbollah to entrench itself anywhere within Lebanon. He declared that southern Beirut would not serve as a safe haven for the group, and held the Lebanese government responsible for preventing the emergence of threats along the border.
