In the latest step to silence reporting from Gaza, Israel’s military destroyed a tower block, the 11 -storey Al Jalaa Tower, in Gaza City on Saturday that housed Al-Jazeera media operations and Associated Press as well as other offices and apartments.

The airstrike came about an hour after the Israeli military ordered people to evacuate the building.

It is not immediately clear whether there were any casualties in the attack.

A statement from Al Jazeera has condemned the attack.

AP said it was ‘shocked and horrified by the attack’.

The current death toll from Israeli strikes in Gaza is 140 people including 39 children.
