Director-General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope, visits Sudan, where she will meet with displaced individuals in the city of Tokar on Wednesday.

In a statement made on Tuesday, Pope highlighted the staggering humanitarian crisis in Sudan, revealing that over 14 million people have been forced to flee their homes, whether within the country or across its borders.

This alarming figure includes approximately 200,000 individuals who have been displaced just in the past month alone.

Furthermore, it is important to note that this total also encompasses those who were displaced prior to the outbreak of conflict 18 months ago.

Pope’s visit underscores the urgent need for support and assistance for the millions affected by the ongoing crisis in Sudan, as the IOM continues its efforts to provide aid and facilitate solutions for those in need.
