Hearings begin in the public inquiry into the UK government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The inquiry, chaired by Baroness Hallett, examines the government’s preparedness and response to the pandemic, including lockdown restrictions, the impact on mental health and children’s education, and collaboration between central government, devolved administrations, local authorities, and the voluntary and community sector.
This public hearing is for Module 1 of the inquiry, which focuses on the UK’s pandemic preparedness and resilience.
Preliminary hearings for modules 1, 2, and 3 took place between October and April.
