Junior doctors remain at the forefront of the protests that continue in eastern India’s West Bengal following the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in AUG, with daily sit-ins outside the hospital continuing.

But Civil society groups from across all sectors are finding ways to join in the protests and condemning the violence.

Artists and creatives are working with women who have been attacked or affected by violence, to help share their stories and raise awareness through art.

With one artist displaying her work at an exhibition, where she has used needle work to portray stories of women who have been affected by violence, and a theatre group who highlight gender violence by performing plays on the street.
