Thousands of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails are planning an open-ended hunger strike on the first day of Ramadan, on Thursday, March 22nd.
The strike is another escalation in a series of steps prisoners have started a month ago to protest Israeli measures and demand freedom.
The strike, some say, is not only a message to Israel but also to Palestinian factions to fight for prisoners’ release.
There are 4,780 Palestinian prisoners in 23 Israeli prisons and detention centers, 915 of them are detained without charges and 553 are sentenced to life.
