As Gaza’s war grinds on, its humanitarian toll continues to mount. The territory’s media office reported that 23 people have died and 124 others injured as a result of misdirected aid airdrops since the conflict began.

On Saturday alone, at least 40 civilians were reportedly killed, many while queuing for food.

Malnutrition is exacting a growing toll. Eleven more people died of hunger-related causes on Friday, bringing the total number of such deaths to 212, including 98 children.

According to the World Health Organisation, some 12,000 children under the age of five were suffering from acute malnutrition in July.

Since the start of hostilities, over 61,000 people have been killed, with more than 1,000 deaths occurring as Palestinians sought access to humanitarian aid. International appeals for a dramatic scale-up in food deliveries have done little to curb Israel’s military campaign, which continues unabated across the beleaguered strip.
