The U.S. has paused a shipment of bombs to Israel, saying it has not addressed Washington’s concerns about a major ground operation in Rafah.
The Israeli authorities have been demolishing dozens of Palestinian Bedouin-owned homes in the Negev, claiming they do not have proper building permits.
The Israeli police sent large forces to the Hebron Valley near the village of Abtin in the Negev region to accompany the crews that will carry out demolition orders for about 50 homes belonging to the Abu Asa family.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday the latest truce proposal from Hamas falls far short of Israel’s essential demands, adding military pressure remains necessary to return hostages held in Gaza.
Israel will continue its operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah until Hamas forces in the area are destroyed or hands over Israeli hostages it still holds.
