The same day, multiple Israeli air strikes reportedly targeted several cities in Iran. Though precise locations remain unconfirmed, local sources cite widespread damage.
In Washington, President Trump announced that the United States had carried out coordinated attacks on Iran, targeting its three major nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. He claimed the strikes were necessary to neutralise a potential nuclear threat from Tehran.
In a notable shift in rhetoric, Mr Trump also suggested the conflict was now about “regime change” in Iran. His remarks come as Israel—America’s closest regional ally—has yet to declare the destruction of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, which it had earlier cited as its primary war aim.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported no signs of increased off-site radiation following the American strikes. Rafael Grossi, the agency’s director-general, has called for an emergency board meeting on Monday.
