More information may be known about reports that Sudan’s chairman of the governing Sovereign Council and president of the United Arab Emirates will meet on July 25 in Addis Ababa.

Reuters reports Ethiopia’s PM Abiy Ahmed has offered to mediate an end to Sudan’s conflict.

Emirati state news agency WAM reported on July18 that UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan had spoken with chairman and Sudanese army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and discussed Abiy’s offer.

Fifteen months into the war, more than 10M Sudanese or 20% of the population have been displaced, according to the IOM.

It’s the highest displacement number globally.

Multiple mediation efforts have failed to halt the conflict.
