Death, Despair, and the Toll on Civilians
Al Jazeera.
Israeli military operations across Gaza persisted through the night, with airstrikes reported in Nuseriat and Bureij refugee camps, as well as the Saftawi district north of Gaza City. Monday witnessed a devastating toll: 61 Palestinians perished in Israeli bombardments, including seven who were killed while seeking humanitarian aid.
Among the dead were 21 victims of strikes on Nasser Hospital, a catastrophe that claimed the lives of five journalists from prominent news outlets such as Al Jazeera, the Associated Press, and Reuters. These journalists were laid to rest in Khan Younis, while another reporter was killed in a separate attack on the Al Mawasi area in southern Gaza.
The broader media community has suffered grievously, with 246 media workers killed since the conflict’s inception—a grim testament to the perils of reporting from the frontline.
The humanitarian crisis deepens, as Gaza’s Health Ministry reports that at least 300 Palestinians—including 117 children—have died from famine and malnutrition since hostilities began. The war’s unrelenting violence compounds an already dire situation, with civilian suffering mounting amid the siege.
