A deal for the release of Elizabeth Tsurkov, an Israeli-Russian academic kidnapped nearly two years ago in Baghdad, is expected to be carried out within a week, according to an Iraqi local channel. Tsurkov is reportedly being held by the Shiite militia Kataib Hezbollah, a group backed by Iran, according to Israeli officials.
The agreement reportedly involves her release in exchange for an Iranian national and six other individuals detained in Iraq over attacks on American targets.
