Malawi declared a state of disaster on Monday.
Cyclone Freddy could be the long-lasting cyclone on record, according to the World Meteorological Organization.
It hit southern Africa on March 11th for the second time in a month.
Malawi already is grappling with the deadliest cholera outbreak in its history, which has killed more than 1,600 people since last year.
Mozambique is also struggling with a cholera outbreak (8,465 cases as of March 12th).
As of March 14th, more than 200 people were confirmed dead, most in Malawi’s commercial capital Blantyre.
That toll was expected to rise as more details emerged from Mozambique.
