Germany’s highest criminal court gives a verdict in the appeal trial brought by former Nazi camp secretary Irmgard Furchner.
The 99-year-old, who worked as a Nazi concentration camp secretary, was convicted in 2022 for her role in the murder of thousands of people. At that time, she was given a two-year suspended sentence.
Furchner, who was 21 at the time of the crimes says she was not aware of the mass killings, despite her job as secretary of the camp’s commander, meaning that she reported directly to the SS.
