Blinken’s fifth trip to the Middle East

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Israel, the occupied West Bank, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar, the US State Department says. This will be his fifth trip to the region since October 7th, and he intends to press for the release of captives held in Gaza and for a ceasefire deal.
A proposal, agreed to by the Israelis, is currently being studied by Hamas.
