The death toll from Iran’s ballistic missile strike on an apartment building in Beersheba early on Tuesday rose to four, after rescue teams recovered the body of a woman from the rubble. This brings the total number of fatalities in Israel during the recent hostilities to 28, with 592 wounded—ten of them reported to be in serious condition.
Despite a ceasefire agreement announced earlier the same day, Israel said missiles were launched at its territory shortly after the truce took effect. In response, the Israeli military declared that it had neutralised what it termed a “dual immediate existential threat” from Iranian nuclear weapons and ballistic missile capabilities.
Prior to the ceasefire, Iran had fired a barrage of missiles at Israeli targets, with Beersheba among the hardest-hit areas. Local authorities reported at least five deaths there, and significant structural damage was visible in parts of the city.
On Tuesday, the Israeli army’s Home Front Command announced that all emergency restrictions had been lifted nationwide and that public life would resume as normal. Nevertheless, the military cautioned that “the danger persists,” warning that the situation remains volatile despite the formal cessation of hostilities.
