Azerbaijan has established what it calls a humanitarian corridor for foreign nationals fleeing Iran.

More than 1,200 people from 51 countries have so far requested permission to cross the border.

They are travelling north from Iran through the coastal Astara crossing into Azerbaijan, from where they are transported to Baku airport for flights home.
