An alliance of up to 50 Australian activist groups will protest against Israel’s war on Gaza at a prominent defence forum in Melbourne that’s taking place Wednesday-Friday.

Representatives of the activist groups say their protest will be aimed at raising awareness about how the defence sector is facilitating killing of civilians in the ongoing war.

A large turnout is expected from pro-Palestinian groups at Melbourne convention centre with estimates that some 25,000 people may attend.

Military tanks, heavy-duty trucks and semi-automatic guns will be on display at the Land Forces International Land Defence expo this week.

More than 800 domestic and international companies and leading organisations will take part.

Victoria police have said they would have a significant presence at the event.
