The Sudanese Army has made significant gains in its battle against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), taking control of key locations in Khartoum, including the airport and several bridges, and pushing towards full control of the capital.
Despite the RSF’s resistance, the army’s advances suggest the group may soon be forced to retreat from the city.
The conflict, which began in April 2023, has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced millions. As fighting intensifies, the humanitarian situation has worsened, with civilians facing severe shortages of basic necessities and struggling to access aid, while the prospects for peace remain uncertain.
