Algeria has recorded around 100 fires across 16 provinces, the worst in Bejaia, Bouira, and Jijel/ Aljazeera.

In Algeria, wildfires raging across northern Algeria amid a heatwave have killed more than a dozen people and prompted mass evacuations.

The country has recorded around 100 fires across 16 provinces, the worst in Bejaia, Bouira, and Jijel.

At least 1,500 people have been evacuated.

In Greece, devastating wildfires are continuing to sweep through Greece for a seventh consecutive day.

Mass evacuations have been ordered on several Greek islands as tens of thousands are taken to safety.

This summer, the country experienced one of the longest heatwaves in recent years, according to experts, with the thermometer hitting 45 degrees Celsius.

Red weather warnings remain in place around Greece and high temperatures and winds are set to continue until Wednesday.

In Canada, thousands of fires have scorched more than 110,000 square kilometers across the country so far.

Air quality continues to be an issue in Canada and in swathes of the U.S. due to the fires.

Parts of the country are also recording some of the worst flooding in fifty years.

In the U.S. heat advisories and warnings were issued for 40 million Americans across 10 states on Sunday, with the highest temperatures concentrated in places like California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah.

Phoenix broke a daily record on Saturday with a high of 47 degrees, continuing its record stretch with 23 consecutive days with temperatures at or above 43 degrees and six days in a row with temperatures at 46 degrees or higher.

The heat is already being blamed for at least 18 confirmed deaths in the Phoenix metro area, with 69 other deaths suspected to be heat-related as of July 15.

The excessive heat is also forecast to spread into the Midwest and mid-Atlantic by the end of next week.

The heat wave is expected to continue into August.
