According to the Palestine Red Crescent Society, on Friday, a late-night raid by Israeli forces in Jenin left one Palestinian dead and a teenager wounded, as reported by medical workers on the scene.

The violence unfolded as troops entered several neighbourhoods of the northern West Bank city, drawing gunfire and panic among residents.

According to WAFA News Agency, local officials identified the victim as 25-year-old Mohammad Adnan Salameh, who was hit in the abdomen and neck.

Medics from the Palestine Red Crescent said they retrieved his body after heavy shooting subsided.

A 15-year-old boy, struck by shrapnel near the Cinema Roundabout, was taken to the hospital with injuries to his legs.

The incident adds to a growing toll.

Since Israeli operations in Jenin and its adjoining refugee camp began in January, around 50 Palestinians have been killed, according to the Palestinian health authorities.

Large sections of the camp have been reduced to rubble: more than 600 homes flattened, a thousand more damaged.

According to WAFA News Agency, around 22,000 people have been forced to leave, seeking shelter in nearby towns.

For many in Jenin, the assault has revived old memories of displacement and loss.
