Sweltering summer heat has arrived to many countries in the northern hemisphere. And record temperatures are already suspected to have caused hundreds — or possibly thousands — of deaths in Asia and Europe.
Parts of Europe have seen record-breaking heat. Italy has issued warnings in several regions as temperatures near 40 degrees. And last week Greece shut down the Acropolis to protect tourists.
In the US, nearly 100-million people are under dangerous heat advisories.
Daily heat records are being broken early in the India’s capital has clocked 38 consecutive days with temperatures at or above 40 degrees. There’s been more than 40-thousand heatstroke cases.
