Dozens of Kenyans participating in the youth-led protests over a now shelved finance bill have been abducted or missing, according to human rights groups.
Protesters and rights groups blame state security agencies for the extrajudicial arrests – a claim denied by both President William Ruto and Kenya’s interior minister.
Security forces have killed more than 40 people since the protests broke out June 18th initially against a controversial finance bill, but protesters have widened into calls for President Ruto to resign and anger over police brutality.
