Beijing hailed Hong Kong’s national security law and what it terms “anti-terrorism measures” in Xinjiang as improvements to China’s legal system.
The latest govt document comes amid a UN review of China’s human rights record at a meeting in Geneva where China faced questions and criticism over its actions in Hong Kong and Xinjiang.
On Tuesday, China’s Foreign Ministry asked the UN to follow the principles of being “constructive” and “non-politicised”.
Reuters quoted diplomats saying China has been lobbying non-Western countries to praise its human rights record ahead of the meeting.
