The humanitarian truce in Sudan was extended on Sunday for 72 hours and it’s due to end on Wednesday, yet fighting continues.

Trilateral Mechanism (the African Union, IGAD, and UN) and the Quad (KSA, UAE, UK, and USA) on Sudan, welcomed the announcement and have called for the full implementation of the ceasefire and a more durable cessationز

Both sides accused the other of violating the ceasefire.

On Wednesday, Sudan’s Army head Burhan agreed to send an army representative to Juba to negotiate the IGAD peace
initiative.

RSF hasn’t yet confirmed its stance.

The Undersecretary of the Sudanese FM visits Arab countries to discuss the situation in the country.

The UN Envoy for Sudan Volker Perthes told Aljazeera that countries in the region were invited to host Al- Burhan and Hemedti to mediate between them.

Perthes added to Aljazeera that the way out now from the crisis in Sudan is to reach a truce and a clear mechanism to monitor its implementation.

Perthes warned that if any party in Sudan refused to respond to dialogue, it will be isolated internationally even if
it wins the conflict.
