UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman was in Kigali to meet senior Rwandan politicians and visit facilities set up as part of the Migration and Economic Development Partnership, which is an integral part of the UK’s new Illegal Migration Bill.
Braverman’s visit to Rwanda comes as Britain’s USD 170 million deal to send asylum seekers to the country remains mired in legal challenges.
Braverman is expected to travel to Rwanda evening.
Anti-racist campaigning group Stand Up to Racism held a national demo to mark UN anti-racism day and protest the government’s immigration and asylum seeker policies.
