49th Day of Conflict: Ongoing Israeli Attacks on Jenin Leave Devastation and Mass Displacement

Monday marks the 49th day of Israel’s military attacks on the city of Jenin and its adjacent refugee camp in the Occupied West Bank. Over the course of this prolonged assault, at least 30 people have been killed, dozens more injured, and the entire population of the Jenin refugee camp has been displaced in what is rapidly becoming one of the worst humanitarian crises in the region.
The violence has left the once-thriving community in ruins, with approximately 500 homes and facilities destroyed by the airstrikes and ground operations. Families have been forced to flee their homes, many seeking shelter in nearby areas, while others have been left with nowhere to go. The scale of destruction in the camp is unprecedented, and the emotional and physical toll on the people of Jenin continues to grow.
In addition to the destruction of homes, essential infrastructure such as schools, healthcare facilities, and places of worship have also been severely damaged. The medical situation is becoming increasingly dire, as hospitals and clinics are overwhelmed with casualties, while supplies of medical equipment and medicine run low.
The international community has expressed growing concern over the escalating violence and its devastating impact on civilians. However, despite calls for an end to the attacks and a return to dialogue, the conflict continues to rage, leaving the people of Jenin and surrounding areas in a constant state of uncertainty and fear. As the situation on the ground worsens, humanitarian organizations are scrambling to provide aid and relief, but the scale of the destruction presents significant challenges in delivering the necessary support to those affected.
