Some 185 migrants and refugees arrived on Lampedusa yesterday, Tuesday, after the boats they were travelling on were intercepted by coast guard and finance police patrol boats and escorted to port.

Transfers from the island continued on but there is still great pressure on the reception center.

Nearly 126,000 migrants have arrived in Italy so far this year, almost double the figure by the same date in 2022.
