The United Nations is holding a General Assembly-level conference on the situation of Rohingya Muslims and other minorities in Myanmar, aiming to draw renewed attention to their plight and to mobilise support after major aid reductions.

An estimated 1.4m Rohingya live in camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Most fled a 2017 military campaign in Myanmar that left thousands dead and has been classified by UN investigators as genocide and a war crime.

Bangladesh hosted a meeting on the issue in late August. Qatar is scheduled to hold another on December 6th.
