UK Home Office’s controversial decision to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda is going ahead.

“The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is due to release its latest report, two days after the UK-Rwanda flight leaves, on the number of people who have suffered forced displacement globally”

Joint Committee on Human Rights will discuss the human rights implications of Rwanda’s asylum agreement with MPs at a meeting in Westminster.

The committee will examine whether the agreement complies with the UK’s international obligations to refugees, including under the European Convention on Human Rights and the Refugee Convention 1951.

It will also examine the human rights landscape in Rwanda itself, including whether Rwanda is a safe third state for the removal of asylum seekers and what opportunities exist for individuals to challenge breaches of their rights.

Care4Clais charity is to launch a legal challenge to stop the UK home office deportation flight to Rwanda from taking off on June 14th.
