On Tuesday, the European Court of Human Rights issued an injunction to stop the deportation of some asylum seekers from the UK to Rwanda.
The UK’s move to deport the asylum seekers comes as part of a 120-million-pound deal with Rwanda.
“I have always said this policy will not be easy to deliver and am disappointed that legal challenge and last-minute claims have meant today’s flight was unable to depart,” Home Secretary Priti Patel said.
“It is very surprising that the European Court of Human Rights has intervened despite repeated earlier success in our domestic courts,” she added.
The High Court in London rejected two appeals on Friday and Monday.
