A court in Suriname is set to rule on a final appeal by former President Desi Bouterse, who was convicted of murder more than four years ago for the 1982 execution of 15 activists in the former Dutch colony.

Bouterse has committed to political responsibility but denies the charges, he faces 20 years in prison.
