The government’s rainy season taskforce said 132 people had been killed in floods across the country.

At least 118,000 people have been displaced prior to Arbaat Dam collapse by the rains this year, according to UN agencies.

The worst affected states are Khartoum, Gezira, Kordofan and Darfur.

Flooding has blocked humanitarian aid getting into Port Sudan and Darfur.

Floods also contributed to the spread of waterborne diseases. In August, WHO reported at least 11,327 cholera cases in Sudan, 316 of them deadly, since June 2023.
