A global funding slowdown is worsening South Sudan’s already dire humanitarian situation.

The United Nations World Food Programme has begun airdropping emergency food assistance to thousands of families in Upper Nile State, where violence has raged since March.

Many people have been displaced from their homes, while others have been pushed to the brink of famine.

Some have sought safety in neighbouring countries, including Ethiopia and Kenya.
