Published on: 17 May, 2022

According to Palestinian medics, more than 70 Palestinians were wounded in overnight clashes with Israeli forces at a Jerusalem funeral, on Tuesday.

More than 50 people were arrested according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Club advocacy group.

“The unrest unfolded as Palestinians were burying Walid al-Sharif, 23, who died on Saturday of wounds suffered during clashes last month at Jerusalem’s flashpoint Al-Aqsa mosque compound,” Ap said.

Tension remains high across Occupied East Jerusalem, following what church leaders and hospital officials have called an unprovoked attack by Israeli forces when they stormed St Joseph Hospital where Shireen’s body had been lying.

13 people were injured in the incident.

Jenin has also seen escalating violence for weeks, with Israeli forces conducting regular raids there.

Shireen Abu Akleh was assassinated in Jenin last Wednesday.

In Gaza Palestinian Scouting Council holds a symbolic funeral for Shireen, in which scout boys in their uniforms will participate in a march on the main street of Gaza City, holding a coffin with a picture of Shireen on it.
