Nigeria’s national emergency management agency has commenced aerial assessment of flooded areas in the Anambra region ahead of the planned airlifting of thousands of people trapped in their communities during the country’s worst floods in a decade.

Water levels in the region continue to rise.

Since the start of the rainy season, many regions of the West African nation with more than 200M have been hit by floods.

More than 300 people have been killed and at least 100,000 made homeless, according to the emergency services.
