According to the Elysée, President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday urged Israel to complete speedily investigations into the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh, shot last week in the occupied West Bank.

“The president said that he was moved by the death of Shireen Abu Akleh and reiterated France’s position that a rapid conclusion of the investigation was needed,” the French president’s office said following a telephone call between Macron and Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

Shireen Abu Akleh was assassinated on Wednesday, May 11th, by Israeli forces in Jenin.

She was shot even though she was visibly identifiable as a journalist.

On May 13th, the day of her funeral in Occupied East Jerusalem Israeli forces stormed the procession and beat mourners, causing pallbearers to almost dropping her casket.

On Thursday, Israeli media reported the country’s military isn’t planning to investigate Shireen’s killing.

Members of the international community have condemned her killing and continue to call for an investigation.
