Heavy rain as trigger Rescue teams scoured the West Bandung region of West Java on Saturday after a landslide triggered by several days of intense rain killed at least seven people and left dozens missing.
Flooding and landslide alerts were issued across the broader region as Indonesia’s armed forces, the regional disaster-management agency, volunteers, and residents joined the emergency response.
Local authorities ordered evacuations in known landslide-prone areas; ongoing rainfall complicates access and threatens further slope failures. The event is part of an increasingly frequent pattern of extreme-weather-induced landslides in the archipelago.
