The ongoing crisis in the Middle East has materialized into a catastrophic scenario, igniting fears previously held by many observers. Reports indicate a harrowing toll on civilians, with increasing casualties and damage to vital infrastructure due to Israeli airstrikes in southern regions and the suburbs of Beirut.

Alarming estimates reveal that approximately 30,000 individuals fled these perilous areas overnight, compounding the plight of an already displaced population of 64,000.

International humanitarian law is explicit in its stipulation: any military action must adhere to the principles of distinction and proportionality, with stringent measures in place to protect civilian lives. Attacks aimed at civilians or resulting in indiscriminate harm represent significant breaches of these laws, potentially constituting war crimes under international statutes.
